Bronson Veterinary Services is a full-service veterinary medical facility for small animal and equine, located in Coldwater, MI. Our well experienced team seeks to provide the best possible medical care, surgical care and dental care for their highly-valued patients including a mobile unit for equine calls and after hour emergency care for those unexpected times.

  • Dr. Joanna Bronson

    Veterinarian, Owner

    Dr. Bronson (pictured to the left with her dog Rusty) attended Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, class of 2000, where she graduated at the top of her class and awarded the J.P. Hutton-W.F. Riley Equine Award for outstanding abilities demonstrated in equine surgery and medicine.  Following graduation, she performed an equine internship at the Equine Specialty Hospital in the Cleveland, Ohio area.  She established Bronson Veterinary Services in 2005 as an equine ambulatory practice only, as a need to spend more time with her young, growing family.  Gradually the practice grew into a busy small animal and equine haul-in facility.  Dr. Bronson enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, and her career takes her from equine reproduction and lameness evaluation/treatment to small animal diagnostics and orthopedic surgeries on a daily basis.  She has also been trained at the Chi Institute in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine to offer acupuncture as an adjunct to Western Veterinary Medicine.  In Dr. Bronson's free time, she enjoys prepping horses and cattle with her children to show, sports, and horseback riding.  Dr. Bronson and her staff gladly welcome all new clients and patients to our clinic.

  • Dr. JoDell Walker

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Walker graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Minor in Chemistry in 2006 and then graduated from the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She moved to Michigan shortly after graduation when her husband (who is a Dairy Veterinarian) got his job in the mitten state. She worked as a Large and Small Animal practitioner in Charlotte for five years caring for all species of farm livestock, as well as dogs and cats. Her special interests for both companion animals and horses include nutrition, weight management and dentistry, as well as emergency care, soft tissue surgery and wound repair/management. Dr. Walker is also interested in integrative veterinary medicine, and is trained in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and Acupuncture.
    Dr. Walker currently lives in Marshall with her husband, two boys, her Wirehaired Pointing Griffon mix named Sundae and an orange tabby cat named Freckles. She also raises chickens, enjoys gardening and cooking, and especially likes spending time on the lake in the summer. She spends most of the winter training to run half and/or full marathons.

  • Kala

    Lead Receptionist

    Kala is our lead receptionist, an outstanding employee of 5 years and has been in the veterinary field for 10 years now.  Kala is a Coldwater High School Graduate, following high school she attended Equissage and earned a Certificate in Equine Sports Massage Therapy and stepped right into the veterinary field.  Kala and her husband Jake live on a 20 acre farm with their 2 dogs Dozer a 5 year old Chocolate lab and Tuff an 11 year old Black lab, and an appaloosa named Bo she enjoys riding, she also enjoys Pinterest and Sunday breakfast. Kala was a member of the Branch Area Career Center FFA Chapter and a 10 year 4-H Club member and exhibited her horses at the Branch County 4-H Fair.

  • Sarah Waltke

    Receptionist

    Sarah has recently joined our receptionist team and it feels just like old times! Sarah was in the Branch Area Careers Center FFA with both Kala and Tara, she was also in 4-H with them where she showed cattle, hogs and a horse. Sarah now resides in Bronson with her husband Michael, their 2 boys Dane and Avery, and their 2 dogs Tom, a Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix and Duke, a Mastiff/Lab mix. Sarah was a 2005 graduate from Coldwater High School she went on to Michigan State University where she received a certificate in Horse Management, while there Sarah did a 6 month internship at the 6666's Ranch in Texas, she also attended Hocking College and is a Certified Equine Massage Therapist, as well as Baker College to start a degree as a Vet Tech. When Sarah has free time she enjoys crafts, watching movies and spending time with her family!

  • Tara

    Licensed Veterinarian Technician

    Tara is a Licensed Vet Tech graduating from The International Business College in 2010. She is pictured to the left with her two labs "Cole" and "Zeke." Tara enjoys spending time with her husband, step daughter, and is celebrating the birth of daughter "Aubree". She is previously a Quincy High School graduate and has been employed with us since 2006. Tara is a Branch County 4-H and Branch Area Careers Center FFA Alumni with 12 years of show experience in beef, dairy, pigs and sheep.  She was awarded the 2005 Livestock Sweepstakes Small Animal Award at the Branch County Fair.  Tara enjoys playing volleyball and helping the next generation of youth prepare their livestock for show.

    Licensed Veterinarian Technician

    Shae is one of our Licensed Vet Techs and holds the title of Head Technician. She is pictured to the left with her American Bull Dog "Cosmo." Shae graduated from Michigan State University in 2008 and has been a team member of Bronson Veterinary Services since 2006.  While completing her education Shae did a highly reputable externship with Rood & Riddle Equine in Lexington, KY.  She enjoys her many draft horses, during the holidays you can find her entertaining in local parades with them. Her family consists of her now 4 year old daughter "Taylor", a new addition "Vada", born in July and her husband of 7 years. Shae has an abundance of knowledge and experience with horses as well as dogs and cats.

  • Jaimee

    Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Jaimee is a licensed vet tech that has recently moved to the area from Mason, MI. She graduated from Leslie High School in 2009 and from Baker College in 2015. Jaimee is an active member of the ApHC/MApHC, she is a weekend warrior showing her horses, Levi & Rafiki, in pleasure and gaming classes all over. Jaimee spends her free time, what little there is, with her family, boyfriend, 3 dogs - Dixie, Duke and Harley, and their cat Nilly, she also enjoys playing volleyball and doing crafts.

    Another fine Bronson Jr/Sr High School student that spends her afternoons with us each week.  Kirsten is a determined young lady who likes agriculture, animals and work!  We are happy to announce her as our newest addition in a much needed role. With all the practice's new growth, we have a lot more to clean.

  • Isabel Vigil

    Barn Manager

    Isabel joined our team in September, she cares for all our equines! She is from the Colon area. She graduated from Colon High School in 2014 and studied Equine Science at the University of Findlay, and is currently studying massage therapy at the Institute for Massage Education, and hopes to transition into equine massage therapy and acupuncture. Isabel shares home 12 chickens - all named "Chicken", her 2 ducks, 3 dogs - Eeyore, Sadie, and JoJo, 4 cats - Bagheera, Gizmo, OG, and Curela, 2 horses - Psyche and Roo, and 3 RATS!!  Isabel has been an equine enthusiast her entire life, she was active in sports and multiple clubs throughout high school.

  • Rusty

    Blood Transfusion Donor

    Rusty is a 5 year old yellow lab mix, that came to be a member of the Bronson Vet Family in December of 2010.  He is also a resident of Dr. Bronson's household and spends his day enjoying the family farm here on Central Road with his sister Lola.  Rusty has a unique job and we call him the "Clinic Hero," as he saves many dog's lives by donating his blood for blood transfusions to help critical care patients. Rusty has currently donated over 3 liters of blood!
